Innate Body Balancing
CranioSacral Therapy & Myofascial Unwinding
Innate Body Balancing is a treatment that combines techniques from CranioSacral Therapy & Myofascial Unwinding enabling the body to heal itself.
What is CranioSacral Therapy & Myofascial Unwinding?
The craniosacral system consists of the cranium, the brain, the spine & spinal cord as well as the main diaphragms of the body such as the lung & sacral diaphragm. CranioSacral techniques are gentle manipulations applied to the bones, joints, muscles and interconnected membranes that release restrictions of the craniosacral system to correct misalignments and distortions in the structure and function of the craniosacral mechanism that surrounds the central nervous system. When these restrictions are released the body is able to reset itself to the original rhythm our bodies were born with. At that point the bodys' innate healing ability can overcome many dis-eases.
Fascia is the soft tissue component of the connective tissues our bodies are covered with from the top of our heads to the tips of our toes. Fascia is a thin covering of fibrous tissue that covers and surrounds all of our muscles, bones, organs, nerves, blood vessels and other structures in one long connected piece. Fascia is weblike in design and is extremely strong as it holds our muscles and other organs and such in place. When craniosacral techniques are initiated and the muscles and soft tissues are allowed to relax without compensation or restriction they will begin to unwind or "reset" themselves to the correct anatomical position.
Anytime there is physical trauma to our bodies, from small bumps and bruises to major car accidents, birth traumas and injuries, this trauma is locked into place in our fascia. The body then has to compensate any way it can to keep us upright, mobile and functioning. When compensation or restriction of the life force energy cannot flow due to this we start to notice symptoms in our bodies. Once the fascia is balanced, freed from all restrictions our muscles are able to balance themselves bringing balance, symmetry and full function to our entire being.
Innate Body Balancing helps you recover and heal from physical and emotional traumas, both recent and as far back as the time you were developing in utero. Trauma, both physical and emotional that has been locked into our mother's bodies shaped our in utero experience and also played a role in our own birth experiences. Birth traumas such as c-sections, forceps extraction, vacumn extraction and such are a result of our mother's body being out of balance and further continues the cycle of locking trauma into our brand new bodies. Newborn babies and their moms are ideal patients for IBB, for if their imbalances are corrected early then the body doesn't have a lifetime of compensation to adjust to.
IBB is currently being utilized with Post Traumatic Stress, Autism, ADD and other learning disabilities. IBB has also been extremely helpful in clients suffering from anxiety, depression and grief and is very effective in alleviating a wide range of conditions, including migraine headaches, chronic fatigue, motor-coordination impairments, chronic neck and back pain, scoliosis, central nervous system disorders, TMJ, stress & tension-related problems, and orthopedic problems. While the focus of IBB is to uncover the source of the problem, symptom relief is achieved.
What happens during a session?
A session involves light placement of hands on the client (using about five grams of pressure, or about the weight of a nickel). Innate Body Balancing (IBB) is gentle work on the entire body with focus on the spine, the skull and its cranial sutures, the respiratory & pelvic diaphragms, and fascia. Craniosacral techniques are used to initiate the body's release of energy incurred from accidents, injuries or emotional trauma. Once the release has begun my job is to follow the body, as a conduit, as the muscles and bones re-align themselves to their proper position and unneeded energy is released. IBB essentially helps the body release restrictions which it has been unable to overcome on its own. Rather than deciding how these changes should be made, I follow the body. When the body is in control of healing itself through this gentle approach, the method is extremely effective.
How many sessions do I need?
The length of time and number of sessions needed is extremely variable and depends, among other factors, on the complex layers of injury and trauma that may mask the original cause of the problem as well as the body’s defense mechanisms. The body decides in each session what is most important to fix at that time and like an onion will peel back layer by layer.
Due to its gentleness and effectiveness, many people include this treatment as a component in their wellness programs. They report having more energy, sleeping better and being sick less often. Innate Body Balancing is recommended for people of all ages, male & female.
